About this project

Cleansed Geometry — Capture a wide shot of the architectural structure using axial composition to emphasize its geometry against the urban backdrop.

All images must prominently feature the BND building in the composition.
Each project phase must clearly highlight the geometry of the BND building against its urban context.
Photographs must be taken from a minimum distance of 10 meters from the BND building to capture its full height and width.
Capturing human interaction must include elements of the BND building to showcase scale and relationship.

Reflections

Even though this project is small, I've been working on it for a couple of days already as I cannot go everyday outside to practice it. The first day I want to practice, I came with a few images. I went already early evening where the light was pretty flat and ended up with mostly "cold" looking images without too much light to help me make the structures of the building more prominent.

The second day was already better. After reflecting on what I didn't like during the first day, finding the locations I wanted to shoot from, deciding that I didn't want to include people in the image and also that I wanted to have a blue sky instead of a more cloudy and dramatic evening sky to give less weight to the sky on the image, I manage to get some better photos.

This time, I managed to get almost the entire building's façade illuminated by the warm sunset light and the foreground in shade, giving a real highlight to the building's structure. Also, the axial composition helped to put in evidence the building's geometry and its façade geometries as well. A key characteristic of this building are its rectangular windows structured in "rows" and its framing with "golden" like colours. I liked this last image the most so far.

I still need to capture other images from this building in order to create a visual series that tells its story, but overall I think I'm improving day-by-day, which is the goal of this project.
